Reading
DEAR, Drop Everything And Read, is the school's morning reading philosophy in
alliance with the rationale of "Read to Learn". Extensive reading and School-based
e-learning are major projects launched by the two Language subjects. Reading
Sharing, Book Recommendation, and Reading Week are example activities. Students
also won in successive years the Harvard Book Merit Prize organised by Hong Kong
Alumni of Harvard University.
Project Learning
A whole-school approach involving all teachers is adopted and cross-KLA
theme-projects are targeted at junior forms, namely Aesthetic Development in S1,
Social Issue in S2 and Science Exploratory Study in S3, weaving a complete coverage
of issues of concerns and fostering generic skills among students through
collaboration, application and reporting. Teachers are also awarded The Best Tutor
by Consumer Council who works in conjunction with the school.
IT in Education
Visualisers and computers linked to the school server are basic classroom equipment
for IT teaching. Computer room and school library are open daily to enhance
students' exposure to and facilitate students' self-regulatory learning with information
technology. Intranet is also well developed to allow for interactive teaching and
learning. The school also won the Best Spirit Award in Geo-coaching Hunting
Competition held on The World Telecommunications and Information Day 2013,
the 2nd runner-up of 2014 E-Buddha Birthday card design competition held by
Buddhist Association, as well as the 3rd runner-up of Hong Kong Schools Office
Software Application and Commercial Knowledge quiz competition held by Youth
College for its 10th Anniversary celebration.
