Objectives
1. To develop competence in four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking
2. To equip students with exam technique towards a better public examination
performance
3. To build up students' confidence in using English for communicative purpose
and foster a positive attitude towards English learning
4. To develop their world knowledge of cultural gaps and to sharpen their
sensitivity towards current affairs and social issues
5. To enhance self-access learning attitude and develop a reading habit for

Learning Strategies
1. Students practise the four skills through thematic, authentic and communicative tasks.
2. Students learn grammar knowledge tied to themes in both drills and contextualized application.
3. Students read to understand, appreciate and respond to literary texts like stories and poems.
4. Students learn and apply phonics to boost spelling and speaking as well as life wide self-access learning.
5. Students work in groups on projects to develop generic skills and confidence in oral presentation.
6. Students participate in fun English activities like singing, drama, games, workshops, rap etc. to arouse
interest.
7. Students acquire exam skills through intensive practice paper drills for public exam.
8. Students read and listen extensively after class in our School-based Online Reading Program, Extensive
Reading Scheme, Self-access Learning Scheme and Newspaper and Magazine Subscription Program.
9. Students participate in various competitions to boost confidence and to facilitate peer learning.
